Importance Of Mentoring In The Workplace

The importance of mentoring in the workplace cannot be over-estimated and it is also an opportunity for new members to fit in quickly with the organisation's goals and mission. Here are some more reasons:

  • Mentoring allows the positive aspects of organisational culture to be passed on even with the departure of the old guard.
  • Mentoring allows new employees to feel at home.
  • Mentoring help the protege to be more opened to new ideas and solutions when facing new challenges.
  • The Mentoring process can be incorporated with the organisation's Crisis Management Handbook.
  • The Mentor is able to provide feedback "upwards" to top management about any perceived problems that the current rank-and-file is facing.
