Importance Of Wiki In Mentoring

Sometimes, there is not enough opportunities for regular mentoring because of the time-constraints of both the Mentor and Protege. A good way to lessen this problem is to create a Wiki. An example is a simple Wiki that I have created about providing simple franchise tips. I have used the free function provided by Wikispaces.

The Mentor can start a Wiki topic called "Challenges of a dynamic environment" and the protege is able to post extensively about his own ideas and difficulties. The Mentor will then be able to reply through the Wiki and keep in touch with the protege.

Another advantage is that there is a storage of important discussions that can be used as a simple record of the depth of mentoring. This record can be further passed on as organisational archive or published as a book.
